PRINCESS BEATRICE’S DOWN-TO-EARTH WEDDING MAKEUP & HAIR

Princess Beatrice's Down-to-Earth Wedding Makeup & Hair

FROM HER ENGLISH ROSE GLOW TO UNFUSSY WAVES, THESE ARE THE FIVE REASONS WHY PRINCESS BEATRICE’S DIY BRIDAL LOOK IS SO RIGHT NOW…

Wearing Queen Elizabeth II’s bridal tiara and a vintage dress by Norman Hartnell, loaned to her by her grandmother for the occasion,  Princess Beatrice looked stunning at her low key socially distanced wedding to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, which took place at The Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor.

Following strict guidelines, Beatrice had to forgo the usual Royal wedding fan fair, including choir singers and a big reception. Moreover, she had to forgo hair and make-up artists, which makes Princess Beatrice’s stunning beauty look even more impressive.

Indeed, Beatrice’s delicate nude palette and glossy waves are a masterclass in DIY bridal hair and makeup. Below, are the five secrets to Princess Beatrice’s timeless wedding day face and hair.

1. HER CAMERA-READY EYES ARE SOFT AND TIMELESS.

Princess Beatrice has clearly picked up a few tips from professional make-up artists and gone with classic smoky eyes. She strikes the balance between a soft nude palette and creating enough definition to make her eyes pop in photographs. Try Beatrice’s favorite mascara, Charlotte Tilbury’s  Full Fat Lashes 5 Star Mascara, which the Princess has described as ‘genius.’ I would also recommend Charlotte Tilbury’s Luxury Eye Palette

2. WARM GLOWING SKIN GIVES HER COMPLEXION A MODERN TWIST

With pale skin and strawberry blonde hair, it would have been obvious for Princess Beatrice to amp up her English Rose complexion with a porcelain base and pink blusher. Instead, Beatrice has warmed up her skin with glow-enhancing products that give her complexion a bronzed look without appearing overly tanned or too made up. Get her look with Cle de Peau Correcting Veil Primer underneath a light glowy foundation such as Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, followed by Chanel Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream on temples, under cheeks and forehead and decolletage. If you really can’t part with pink, finish with a pop of deep rose on the apples of cheeks in Beatrice’s go-to blusher, Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Powder Pink.

3. PRINCESS BEATRICE CHOSE THE “PERFECT NUDE LIPSTICK”

Most brides choose nude lipstick on their big day. Beatrice has nailed the perfect timeless hue by choosing a lipstick that errs on the warm side. Not only does this give her look a summery vibe, but it also compliments her hair color and the rest of her complexion, which is bronzed and glowing. A notoriously tricky shade to get right. If your nude is too taupe it can wash you out, too pink and it can appear overly girly.

Princess Beatrice’s sandy neutral lip color illuminates her face and takes her look from ordinary to extraordinary. Two warm-toned nudes that fit Beatrice’s wedding day make-up code are Christian Louboutin Velvet Matte Lipstick in Just Nothing and Charlotte Tilbury Kissing Lipstick in Stoned Rose, a satin finish with a flattering peach undertone.

4. HER GLOSSY, VOLUMOUS HAIR IS SPOT ON

Princess Beatrice has offset the traditional vintage beaded gown, with a modern bouncy blow-dry. It is similar to Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge’s signature hairstyle. By steering clear of a formal up-do, Beatrice has masterfully avoided looking too old fashioned, while the low side parting and voluminous big waves, add a carefree spirit in keeping with her down-to-earth lockdown wedding.

The key to Beatrice’s hair lies in two things. The root lift achieved with either a light mousse or volumizing spray,  and light-reflecting shine. Get her look with Redken Full Frame 07 All-Over Voluziming Mousse, Oaui Body and Hair Shine Mist. Blowdry and tong hair with Dyson’s Airwrap for big bouncy waves. Finish and set with L’Oreal by Elnett’s Hold & Shine Hairspray.

5. IMPECCABLY GROOMED BROWS GIVE THE ROYAL FINISH

Eyebrows may sound like an incidental part of a bride’s wedding day look, but they are far from it. By delicately filling in and grooming eyebrow hair in place, it will lift your face and frame eyes for photographs. Princess Beatrice has made the wise decision not to overly pencil in her brows so as to avoid hard lines, which would look at odds with her pale complexion and delicate make-up palette. Instead, it is likely that she’s gone for a tinted brow grooming gel, such as Charlotte Tilbury’s Legendary Brows, which comes with a tiny spooly applicator for precise application and the most natural look.
