REFLECTING ON THE YEAR GONE & MY GOALS FOR 2018

REFLECTING ON THE YEAR GONE & MY GOALS FOR 2018

Today is officially my first day back to work and the blog after the Holidays. I think a Monday is the best day for a fresh start. In all honestly, I have been looking forward to 2018 for a few weeks prior New Year’s Eve. I needed to hit the reset button desperately and the new year was the perfect time to do it. But before I dive into my goals for 2018, I thought it would be great to reflect on the year gone.

2017 has come and gone at lightning speed. One day we were celebrating Valentine’s Day and the other it was Christmas already. It was a challenging year for me on a personal level. I found myself in a constant state of comparing myself to my peers and feeling inadequate. Especially Instagram fueled this feeling resulting in fewer posts. Taking a break from my favorite social media outlet was what I needed. A talk with my friend, a phycologist, gave me a clear perspective on all things social.

My goal every year is to travel as much as possible. In 2017 we focused on necessary house updates thus we didn’t travel much. I visited my family two times for Easter and Christmas Holidays. We holidayed in our favorite Greek island, Kithira for a week. I am looking forward to traveling much more in 2018!

Apart from the difficult moments, there were also some good ones. In May we celebrated our ninth anniversary. I still can’t believe that nine years ago, I met my other half. Some days it seems like yesterday when we met for the first time. Finding someone to love and support you is something that you shouldn’t take it for granted. Relationships take work but when you are in a good relationship it worths it.

Professional 2017, however, was a good year. I finally established my virtual assisting business and grew my clientele. Working as a virtual assistant was a career path that I didn’t consider for myself until a couple of years back. Shoegal Out In The World is the one I have to thank! Starting this little corner on the internet six years ago was the best thing I could have done.

MY GOALS FOR 2018

Establish a blog posting schedule and aim to post daily on the blog.

While recapping the year gone, I didn’t elaborate much on my blog. 2017 was a mediocre year for Shoegal Out In The World. I worked with a handful of brands and posted irregularly during the whole year. In 2018, I am working on establishing a blog posting schedule that will work for me. My end goal is to post daily. I know it takes a lot of work but I am prepared to do it!

Travel more and more and more!

I love to travel and my goal for 2018 is to travel as much as possible. I want to travel abroad, somewhere in Europe and travel to some nearby destinations as well. We have created a list of destinations in Greece that we want to visit this year. Lastly, I want to travel to my hometown more often to visit my family and spend time with them.

Get my driving license.

A goal that wasn’t fulfilled last year but it will in 2018. No more excuses! I am ready to get my driving license and own a car by the end of the year. Owning a car will allow me to visit my family more often. Win, win, win!

Grow my virtual assisting business.

2017 was a good year for my newly found business. My goal is to grow my business even more. Learning new skills and working on reaching new clients are high on my priorities list.

Take more photographs.

The last couple of months I have almost completely stopped taking photos. My Instagram frustration fueled this decision. However, photography is an integral part of blogging. I want to share more moments from my life on Instagram stories and on the blog. My DSLR is going to work overtime.

Journal daily for 15 minutes.

I read Paris Letters by Janice Macleod and really liked the idea of journaling daily as a way to clearing my mind and putting my thoughts in order. I haven’t done it before but I truly believe that it will help me.

Meditate daily.

As a person that has difficulty to really relax, I want to try to meditate daily using the Headspace app. I have read great things from Carly of the blog Carly the Prepster and Grace of the blog The Stripe. I am willing to try anything to make me relax and cure my insomnia.

Exercise four times per week.

I have fallen behind my workout regime for quite a while and it is high time I get back. No plans to join the gym and hit it daily here, because for me this is a recipe for failure. I plan to go for long walks at least three times per week and add some type of strengthening exercise as well. The Body Coach has some great workout videos that I can do at home and I am willing to try.

Drink 3 liters of water daily.

Another wellness goal that I want to achieve this year. My daily water intake is low and I want to change this. I want to drink 3 liters of water daily to help me lose weight, improve my complexion and improve my whole well-being. It’s going to be hard in the beginning but with a little determination, I can do it. Improving my health is very important to me as I am growing older. When I exercise, eat healthily and drink lots of water my energy levels are up and I feel better and do more things during the course of a day.

Learn Spanish.

I have been having the same goal for a few years now. But this year I have already made the first step to achieving it by enrolling in a Spanish learning course. I chose to enroll in the Basic Spanish 1: Getting Started by the University of Valencia offered on the edX platform. I am really excited!
