Hello, I am back and couldn’t be happier! The past couple of weeks have been difficult. I felt the need to take a break from the blog and I don’t regret my decision. So naturally you are wondering what happened and I am here to answer your questions.
It all started a Friday night a couple weeks ago. I received one of those calls we all dread. My mother was on the other side of the line, telling me she was feeling unwell. She had high blood pressure and shortness of breath and she was heading to the local hospital. I felt so helpless being far away and all I could do was wait. After a set of tests and an overnight at the hospital, my mother was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism. Instantly she was admitted for a few days and began antithrombotic treatment.
I immediately booked my ticket and after a four and half hour’s bus ride, I was back in my hometown. My anxiety levels were skyrocketing until the moment I saw my mother for the first time. I felt all the feelings, especially the bad ones. The truth is that the whole situation caught me off guard. I stayed by her side three days and nights at the hospital until she was a discharged. At this point, I want to say that all the doctors and nurses in the hospital were working so hard to provide the best possible care for all patients, despite the difficulties they are facing.
When my mother came back home, I decided to extend my visit and stay for one extra week to help her around the house and keep her company. Thankfully, she is recovering well and is determined to take good care of herself to prevent something like that to happen again. My mother is a lucky lady. She is surrounded by people she loves, me and my fiance, my brother, her sister and brother-in-law, her lovely friends and few relatives. She had numerous visits during her hospital stay and later at home. I believe that at moments like these, people show their true colors, and the ones that love and care for you will be there for you.
The days passed quickly with running errands and spending time with my mother. Two days before leaving, my father’s youngest sister and daughter took a trip to my hometown and visited us. I had the pleasure of spending time with my cousin after many years since she lives abroad and my mother enjoyed an outing in the city with good company.
I didn’t celebrate Halloween as I was planning and had to store all the Halloween decorations when I came back home. However, I was lucky enough to score a few Halloween cookies from my favorite bakery at my hometown the Bake Spot. Mrs. Teta did it once again, with yummy and beautiful sugar cookies. Now I am prepping for Christmas and I have to hold myself not put out my Christmas tree, but not for long.
Last Tuesday, I finally returned home. To be honest, I was turned. I wanted to stay a few more days but at some point, I knew I had to get back. I am calling my mother even more than I did in the past and planning to return in a few weeks for the Holidays with my fiance. It took me a few days to get the handle of things and today I am finally back.
I plan to post daily this week. I have lined up a great guest post for Wednesday and on Friday I will send out my first newsletter with a little delay.
