I will start this post with a statement. I love snail mail. Every time I receive a card or an invitation through the mail, I feel a sense of excitement. Through the years, I have developed a habit of keeping cards and invitations from people dear to my heart as keepsakes. But I also send out cards to friends and family for their birthdays, the holidays, thank you cards or for no occasion at all. On my desk, I keep a small box of cards, to have on hand at any given moment.
However, I am a modern, busy gal, who works hard as a freelancer and sometimes sending a traditional card can be a little tricky. From writing the card to mailing it, it takes effort and time, which I don’t always have to be honest. And timing sometimes is the essence and traditional mail can take days to reach each recipient. Paperless Post came to my rescue a few years back, with personalized and beautiful designed e-cards, that arrive on time and leave a great impression.
So it was a no-brainer for me when I decided that it would be a great idea to throw a gals’ night in my house to embark the end of summer to send out my invitations through Paperless Post. I formed the idea for this party in my head while on vacation and wanted to make it a little special with proper invitations instead of text messages. The little details can make a huge difference.
I decided my party to be an all-white end of the summer themed party, after watching recently an old Gossip Girl episode. As we are fast approaching autumn and back to school spirit, an all-white party to mark the end of another great summer seemed just right. Since I sorted the dress code for my party, I moved on to create my guest list. Trying to find a date that suits everyone these days is a difficult task, so I picked the first Saturday of September since I knew some friends out of town would be here.
For a moment or two, I toyed with the idea of buying a new white dress on sale for my party but opted out. Some fun accessories and a bold red or coral lipstick will do the trick. Even though I have loads of time to pick my outfit, as soon as I decided to throw the party, I started creating outfits in my head and felt excited. Lately, I don’t have so many chances to dress up for special occasions and I really miss it.
With an outfit in mind, I spent a few hours trying to pick an invitation from the Paperless Post’s wide invitation range. There were so many great options to choose from. To make my life a little easier, I limited my options based on the designer. Paperless Post has beautifully designed invitations from fashion designers like Oscar de la Renta, Kate Spade New York, Vera Wang, Charlotte Olympia, Mary Katrantzou and home décor guru Jonathan Adler among others. I think at this point you can understand how difficult it was to pick just one.
After going back and forth among Charlotte Olympia, Kate Spade New York, and Oscar de la Renta invitations, I chose a beautifully illustrated invitation by Charlotte Olympia. The one I chose is also available in a traditional paper version as many others. I love this Paperless Post feature especially during the Holidays where I like to have the option of sending holiday cards traditionally by post and as e-cards.
With a few clicks, I customized my end of the summer party picking fonts, colors, and the background. Along with the beautiful invitation I chose, an equally beautiful envelope was included. And if this wasn’t enough, a YES or No attendance card was included for my guests to RSVP. As soon as I finalized the customization, I moved to the event’s page where my guests can go to get in touch with me, view updated event details, and share party photos. I included a map with my address and phone number so my out of town guests can easily find my house. There were many other options such as a gift registry that can come on hand in the future.
I inserted the email addresses of my gals and hit the send button. I was excited to receive my friends’ RSVPs as well as raving comments regarding the invite I chose. My Paperless Post invitations have set the tone for my party and I can’t wait to start organizing and finalizing all the party details from décor to food and drinks. It’s going to be a night to remember with a few of my favorite people!
